The Steps Your Customers Need to Follow

Step 1: Register for the Canada Greener Homes Grant.

Step 3: Plan, document, and complete the home retrofits.

Step 4: Book a post-retrofit evaluation to determine the value of the grant received.

Step 5: Upload all documents online
To apply for the reimbursement, including receipts/invoices for evaluations, purchased products, and installation costs.

Step 6: Sign into the portal to confirm the grant amount and receive their reimbursement.
Eligibility
The grant is open to all eligible homeowners in Canada. One homeowner per home can register and must provide the following supporting documents:
- Proof of ownership (e.g., a property tax bill)
- Proof that the home is their primary residence (e.g., driver’s license, utility bill, etc.)


Eligible Property Types Include:
- Single and semi-detached houses
- Row housing
- Townhouses
- All-season cottages
- Mobile homes on permanent foundation
- Permanently moored floating homes
- Residential portions of mixed-use buildings
- Small multi-unit residential buildings (3-storey or less with 600m2 footprint or less)

Home Insulation – Up to $5,000

Windows and Glass Doors – Up to $5,000

Heating Equipment – Up to $5,000

Resiliency Measures (Protection Against Environmental Damages) – Up to $2,625

Smart Thermostats – Up to $50

Renewable Energy (Photovoltaic Solar Panels) – Up to $5,000
Frequently Asked Questions
Homeowners can make energy-efficient upgrades to their home and apply to receive up to $5,000 back, plus up to $600 extra for the cost of pre- and post-retrofit evaluations.
With the Canada Greener Homes Grant, customers will be able to afford more and move forward with more extensive upgrades to their home. The more your customers can afford, the more you’ll be able to sell to them.
The review can take up to 40 business days. The amount of your grant will depend on which retrofits were completed and the total of your qualifying expenses. In no case will the grant exceed your qualifying costs.
New homes are not eligible for the grant. Newly built homes are defined as homes that are no more than six months old, based on the date of occupancy by the first homeowner. This criterion will apply to homeowners at the time of application.
